If You Don't Have an FLS Nearby, You're Not Without Options

I built BonePilot because I know exactly what it feels like to be handed a diagnosis, a stack of test results and very little explanation of what any of it actually means. If you don’t have access to a Fracture Liaison Service, you’re missing the specialist team that would normally guide you through your results and help you decide what happens next. BonePilot can’t replace that service, but it can help you understand your bone health and arrive at your next appointment better informed and more confident.

The first step is understanding your diagnosis. The Learning Centre in BonePilot explains the fundamentals of osteoporosis in plain English, including what a DEXA or REMS scan measures, how to interpret T-scores and Z-scores, what bone turnover markers such as CTX and P1NP actually tell you, and why nutrition, exercise, medication and lifestyle all contribute to healthy bone remodelling.

The second step is understanding your own results. Rather than reading about osteoporosis in general, BonePilot’s assessment tools help you interpret your own information. The DEXA & REMS Scan Interpreter explains what your scan means, the Bone Marker Interpreter helps you understand CTX and P1NP, the Secondary Osteoporosis Screening assessment highlights possible underlying causes that may need investigating, and the Medication Assessment explains how different osteoporosis treatments work and what questions you may wish to discuss with your clinician.

Finally, BonePilot helps you understand what you can do today. The Calcium Intake Calculator, Protein Intake Calculator, Supplement Assessment, Exercise & Calcium Insight and Sunshine Vitamin D Estimator focus on the everyday decisions that support long-term bone health. Small, consistent improvements often have a much greater impact than trying to change everything at once.

None of these tools replace a Fracture Liaison Service, and they aren’t intended to diagnose or prescribe treatment. Their purpose is to help you better understand your own health so that conversations with your GP, endocrinologist or osteoporosis specialist become more productive. Instead of arriving with a folder full of reports and unanswered questions, you’ll have a clearer understanding of your results, your progress and the questions you want to ask.

If you’ve recently had a fracture and no one has mentioned a Fracture Liaison Service, it’s worth asking your GP whether one is available in your area. In the meantime, BonePilot is designed to help you learn, prepare and participate more confidently in your own bone health journey—regardless of your postcode.
